Pension Auto-Enrolment Latest News & Advice

Posted on 27/07/2015 by Jannine Smart in Employment Law Upate

Question: The 1st June 2015 was described as ‘Test tranche for less than 30 members’ what does this mean? Answer: “The Pensions Regulator (tPR) is running a test tranche of smaller employers from 1st June to see how they cope and look at any problems that may arise ready for the vast majority that start later this year. Businesses with fewer than 49 employees will now begin to be staged in between June 2015 and April 2017, instead of the previous timing (which would have started during 2014). These small employers will be split between those with 30 or more employees (who will be staged between August 2015 and October 2015) and those with fewer than 30 (who, apart from a test tranche in June 2015, will not be staged until January 2016). Even if a Company is not in the test tranche, they still need to plan and budget for how they will comply with their new duties. Employers that are part of a group should be aware, as the whole group will be staged in together, meaning they will be staged in early (at the same time as the largest PAYE group). Any seasonal businesses who are allocated a date during the peak of their activity can bring forward their staging date to avoid dealing with the additional administration and employee communications/queries at their busiest time of year. Posted on 26/05/2015 by Jannine Smart in Coaching

The benefits of outplacement (or transition) coaching for employees who have to move on is well documented but how do companies benefit? Posted on 23/04/2015 by Jannine Smart in Wellbeing

Following Part 1 of our BLOG earlier this month ‘Dealing with Pressure’ the focus is now on “How as a manager can I support my team?”. With organisational change all around us, for some of us it feels like the ‘merry-go-around’ never stops. A key management skill is to be able to recognise the emotional impact that this is having on our teams, which if left unchecked can lead to absence from work, negative feelings and retention issues, all of which adversely affects performance and productivity and fundamentally ….the bottom line…

A survey this week by Trade Union UNISON of 2,977 ambulance workers suggested that 96% said they were suffering from stress. This is one of many articles covering the topic of stress and workplace stress, so what is it that causes us to feel like his in the work place? Our long hours culture, staff shortages, irregular or non-existent breaks or lunch hours, working in a target driven industry? When we are busy it is all too easy not to recognise the signs around us – in ourselves and others around us. This article has been written with the intention of being a resource of referral for all employees and managers on how to recognise and control how we ‘Deal with Pressure’.
