Estimator Vacancy

A successful and award winning, specialist interior glass contractor established in 2002 and based in Derby, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team to support ambitious growth plans. Due to an increase in enquiry levels and planned expansion this full time position offers a competitive basic salary, based in Derby with occasion travel to sites and customers across the Midlands and UK.

Candidates must have previously worked in an Estimator role and have a successful track record of working with architectural modular and bespoke systems (e.g. glazed screen and partition systems or curtain walling etc.).


You will have experience of pricing jobs within the construction sector and have developed a network of existing contacts within the supply chain and main contractors.


You will be responsible for reviewing, qualifying and pricing materials and labour, plant, subcontractors, prelims and submitting project estimates/quotations and BQ’s.  This includes technical proposals and creating budgets for  customers (and/or potential customers), in relation to products and services, including assessment of material, labour and equipment required and analysing quotes received from sub-contractors and suppliers. 


You will be able to define scopes of work from tender documents, including technical specifications and drawings to ensure that priced tenders are accurate and competitive and submitted/returned within strict time-scales.  


Working closely with our in-house team, you will also be required to build and maintain good customer relationships and liaise with all project stakeholders, customers and suppliers to enable continued growth and promote our reputation for quality and professionalism in the marketplace. 


Successful candidates will have previous experience of project management, meeting tight deadlines, estimating experience in the construction industry and have industry knowledge to include:- material components, building regulations, estimating and health and safety.


Strong planning and reporting skills are key to ensure records are maintained accurately, projects are completed against strict deadlines, including tender submissions.


You will be confident and resourceful, a strong problem solver with good negotiation, influencing and communication skills.  You will possess a high level of IT literacy, be highly numerate and confident to accurately manipulate numerical information, including report writing and Excel.


A BTEC HNC, HND or degree first (or equivalent) in relevant subjects such as: building studies, engineering, surveying, structural/civil or construction engineering management, building management or building technology is be desirable.


A willingness to travel throughout the UK and hold a valid UK/EU Drivers licence is essential, as is holding or eligible to obtain security clearance (e.g. enhanced DBS security clearance).
